It was disappointing to discover that the Etude House BB Cream failed to live up to the hype. I liked the idea of a moisturizer and sunscreen all in one product and was hoping to make it a boudoir staple, but the horrible oil control and light shade brought me back to the search for the perfect day makeup base. While I’m very happy with my Skin Hour Mattifying Day Cream, I need something with stronger SPF for when I have to be under the sun for hours. The search led me to The Good Earth, where I bought a bottle of Leyende Place in the Sun Face Sunblock.

Even though there aren’t many reviews on this product, I had a feeling I would like Place in the Sun because Skin Hour and Leyende products are made by the same manufacturer. If Place in the Sun is anything like my Mattifying Day Cream, then I’m sold. Looks like my gut feeling was right! The moment I squeezed the tube and applied the sunscreen onto my skin, I knew that I found my HG (holy grail) moisturizer/sunblock.

DO LIKE:
* The feel. The sunblock has the same creamy consistency as the Skin Hour day cream, but a little thicker. It’s not as easy to spread as the Day Cream (probably because of the other ingredients) and it takes a while for my skin to absorb the product. Once it’s settled, my skin feels soft and well-moisturized, but not oily.
* The oil control. This product is an amazing makeup base, especially for mineral makeup. It keeps my mineral foundation budge-proof and has excellent oil control.
* The scent. It has a subtle sunscreen-y scent, which I love because it reminds me of the beach. The scent is not strong enough to trigger my sniffles, which is a big plus.
* Organic ingredients. Leyende Place in the Sun is 100% organic. Unlike other organic sunscreens, which use physical sun blockers like titanium dioxide, Place in the Sun uses a safe chemical UVA/UVB absorber called Tinosorb. According to the Cosmetics Database, Tinosorb has a low toxicity score despite being a chemical ingredient. Tinosorb is also photo-stable, which means no unflattering white casts! I’ve yet to test this though.
* The price tag. A 50ml bottle costs only P400 at The Good Earth. Not a bad price for such an excellent product!
DO NOT LIKE
* I can’t think of anything I don’t like!

CONCLUSION
I believe I don’t need to elaborate further on why Leyende Place in the Sun is an amazing sunscreen. It has everything I could ever want in a makeup base (great oil control, non-greasy feeling), it’s a good moisturizer, it protects me from the whole UV spectrum, and it’s completely organic. If you like Skin Hour’s Mattifying Day Cream, then you’re going to love Place in the Sun. I’m going to Bangkok next week and this is one of the first things I will pack – I refuse to go anywhere under the sun without it!
WILL I REPURCHASE?
Yes! In fact, I love it so much that I’m giving away one bottle of Place in the Sun, courtesy of The Good Earth. Stay tuned for the contest details!

I dont care about Leyende because the owner was a bitch to me online LOL
Aww rry? Tell me about it next time!
Briliant! I have to get one before my kiehl’s sunscreen runs out. There’s no way I’m repurchasing it at the price that it’s selling. It’s amazing but I’m not willing to shell out 2k for sunscreen/makeup base. Thanks for an awesome review Lauren. It keeps me entertained and happy while I’m in the hospital. Thank God for wifi!
I read about your hospital stay in your blog! :( I’m glad this cheered you up a little. I hope you get well soon! A lot of people miss your updates, and I’m one of those who do.
You know what, the SH Mattifying Day Cream is really growing on me. i hafta purchase a bigger tub soon! Kaso i tried to apply it when it was brownout this afternoon, it felt really warm on the skin (duh) but not sticky and tacky like other sunscreens. I’ve got a winner!!!
Give it to me! I need sunscreen, I commute everyday :D
