Marco and I ditched work a day before Klassy and Eric’s wedding so we could spend a romantic 24 hours together in scenic Tagaytay. Couples looking to get cozy in Tagaytay usually make a beeline for Sonya’s Garden, but my mom insisted that I check out this lovely place called Marcia Adams instead. I’ve never been to either restaurants, but I did not regret listening to mom’s advice. Marcia Adams turned out to be a beautiful hideaway of overgrown floral gardens, stone walkways, and delicious food.

We spent a few minutes to consider the menu and make our orders, but I was dying to explore the place. I can’t remember the last time I was in a garden that looked like a real garden rather than a landscaping project.

The paths that take you through the garden are paved with century-old bricks from Bacolod. I envy the couple who started this restaurant and live right next door. What’s it like to have a sprawling floral garden in your own backyard?

On a working Friday, the restaurant is virtually empty, which made the place a real sanctuary from the noise, pollution, and overall ugliness of Metro Manila. Bonus points for not playing cheap bossa nova covers, or any sort of music, really. The birds twittering and the wind blowing outside the window was our soundtrack.

Looking through these photos fills me with a longing for more local haunts untouched by commercialism and the tacky taste of real estate developers. If Tagaytay weren’t so far, I would be here every weekend. Learn more about Marcia Adams at their Facebook page or call for reservations at +63917 801 1456.

Wow, the place looks incredible! Will definitely check it out when we go to Tagaytay. Great pictures! :)
How nice :) I wish I could go to Tagaytay every weekend too! We need more parks/gardens in the city!
I know! I wish we had more beautiful places you can explore without the distraction of of crowds or children.
The place looks great. Will definitely put that on my list of places to see in Tagaytay. How was the food? Price?
The food was really amazing! P700 but it comes with your choice of appetizer and dessert. There’s a menu on their Facebook page, I think.
Marcia Adams is on my list. I’ve been too Sonya’s many times and aside from the garden, the food is really nothing special. Plus, last time, I saw her shushing out two little kids playing in her garden and that was it for me.
I highly HIGHLY recommend Marcia Adams. My boyfriend has been to both and he prefers Marcia Adams because it feels more natural and bohemian. I’d like to give Sonya’s Garden a try but I can’t sit through an entire meal without meat.
oh wow, what a gorgeous place! will definitely drag my boyfriend there one of these days. how was the food tho? :)
