Outfit: A Very Long December

Am I the only one who isn’t feeling the Christmas spirit? Lately, the only thing I feel is pressure – pressure at work to live up to everyone’s high expectations, pressure from my mom to get skinny, pressure from this blog to keep it updated, make advertisers happy, and keep everyone entertained. Decembers make me extra neurotic because as the year comes to a close, I realize that I’m still just as confused about my life as I was at the start of the year. Needless to say, I am not a very happy person these days, and I can only hope that I will feel better in time.

Anyway, an outfit photo from last weekend! My friends celebrated their birthday at a hotel and we all came in retro outfits. I really like this season’s revival of the 60s shift dress, so coming up with something to wear wasn’t too tough.

Outfit: Shoe Monogamy and Where I Like to Shop These Days

I’m glad I have this habit of taking outfit photos and forgetting to post them, because it at least gives me something to write about on days when I’m far too busy (and far too boring) to come up with a real blog post. While putting away my shoes last night, I realized that my creepers are the last pair of shoes I bought, and that I’m still not sick of wearing them. I’m trying to do this thing where I become highly selective about the shoe trends I want to invest in, and so far it’s been working! It’s hard to say no to nice shoes, but then I think of my bedroom floor and how I can never fully open the door because of the shoes that get in the way.

Outfit: Happiness Is a Warm Bath

This is the reason I couldn’t make it to Bloggers United: Sony flew me to Singapore to attend the Uphoria Year-End Party and spend the weekend getting to know their products and artists. Even though I’m too quiet to be a party person (and too technophobic to be on a tech junket), I’m not quiet enough to say no to a weekend in Singapore!

On my first morning there, we checked into the Ritz-Carlton, whose friendly staff and plush accommodations kept me spoiled all weekend. Besides being filled with fancy things like bottled Evian and a strawberry fondue, my room had a gorgeous view of Singapore, which continued well into the bathroom’s spacious bathtub. “Relaxing” is a human behavior I’m not very good at, but I discovered that I could do it just fine when submerged in a warm bath, city lights twinkling just beneath me. No matter how tired I was, I made sure to enjoy that bathtub every night I was there.

First item on the agenda was lunch, followed by a press conference with Sony artists Train and Mike Posner. This is what I wore. Pardon the mirror photos – it’s difficult to take outfit shots when you’re traveling alone!

Outfit: All About the Bag

Even though I am not a bag person, I am extremely picky when I shop for purses. I pretty much just stick to one or two everyday bags until they die, which means they have to look good and be easy to carry around. I like my bags medium-sized – large enough for the essentials and a thick book, but not too large as to overpower my body. Designer bags are wasted on me; I like bags made of faux leather because I don’t want to have to worry about taking care of them. I don’t go for very ladylike designs, and prefer bags that are either really cute or have zero embellishments.

For these reasons, Accessorize is my go-to brand for everyday purses. I love that their bags are on-trend yet unfussy, and made of really sturdy material. I bought one on sale last year and it still looks as good as the day I bought it, even though I use it all the time and have taken it to three different countries since.

Last month, Accessorize invited me to a really fun event, where I choose my second purse among a gorgeous selection. Guess which one I got!
