This lady right here is Japanese fashion designer Tsumori Chisato. She (and a random eBay seller) made me a very happy person today because I just won two pieces from older collections off eBay – my very first ever designer clothes! Part of what makes me really thrilled about my purchase is that I got them at ridiculously low prices. Sure, buying designer pieces off eBay isn’t the same experience as getting them from a brick and mortar store and feeling a slight twinge of buyer’s remorse as I whip out my credit card. But I bought them because I fell in love with how they look, and if I can get them for cheaper than their retail price, why not?

To be perfectly honest, I never heard of Tsumori Chisato until I noticed her name on some of her items on eBay Philippines, but a quick search for similar items and her previous collections made me an instant fan. Every piece is bold mix of fun patterns and bright colors, while her more subdued designs have a childlike, playful vibe to them. Tsumori Chisato began her fashion career as the lead designer for Issey Miyake’s Issey Sport, which was later renamed IS Chisato Tsumori Design. She launched her first collection in 1990, but the Western world (and by default, the rest of the world) didn’t know much about her until her Paris show in 2003.

The top/dress I got is from her 2008 spring RTW collection.

I don’t know which year or season this one is from but I love love love the character appliques on the skirt! They remind me of the cousins in the Playstation game Katamari Damacy.

And look what I found on the Internets – a limited edition Tsumori Chisato palette from Shu Uemura! I don’t really need new eye makeup right now, especially a tiny palette that costs $68, but it’d sure be nice to have for Christmas.
Keee I can’t wait to get my new clothes. :D

Bery nays! But you only mentioned one of the items you won. What’s the other one?
(I think you mean Issey Miyake, btw.)
The black dress was my second purchase. :)
And right, I meant to type Issey Miyake, but I’m a little dyslexic when I write in a hurry. :P
aren’t her designs just quirky and osm!?! i have two tops from her and i got them both from an ukay ukay shop in cubao! haha
Oooh wow, that’s awesome. Hooray for designer finds at ukay! :D
Btw we missed you at Kristel’s birthday shenanigans! Where were you??
I am jealous. I lost out on my bid in ebay for this cute orange Chisato dress myself. :( I just hope she doesn’t get too popular, lest I find her stuff under “selected items” in Ukay. (w/c charge exorbitant amounts just for a “designer” brand)
