Shopping at the Topshop Buy One Take One Sale

topshop sale

I’m too cheap to buy my clothes at malls, but I couldn’t leave Podium without passing by Topshop during payday weekend. I’m going through a neutrals phase and if there’s anything mid-level brands like Topshop have a lot of, it’s overpriced, super-soft jersey tees in basic colors. And what better time is there to stock up on basics than a buy one take one sale?

A quick look at the sale racks made me realize that shopping at mall sales is a lot like going through an ukay store, minus the dust and the bad music. You’re going to see a lot of things that look nice at first, but a closer inspection will reveal a cigarette burn, embroidery come undone, or in the case of the Topshop sale – hardly anything in my size. I’m a US size 2 or 4, depending on the style, but most of the items on sale were size 6 and up. It was absolutely frustrating to have a dress or top catch my eye, only to glance at the tag and see that it was way too large. But I was determined not to leave without purchasing something, so I spent over an hour digging through the sale rack, patiently checking tags and hunting for clothes I liked in my size.

An hour later, I ended up buying a lacy pink tunic (it’s so Ukay Manila), gray lace leggings, and a black bikini top (to replace the one I broke two summers ago). Wallet damage was only under P2,000. In a way, I’m grateful that all the skinny girls got first pick; if all the sale items came in size 2′s and 4′s, I’d have spent my entire paycheck in that single visit! As for the basics, I didn’t buy any because Topshop only had ribbed tanks and too-loose blouses that made me look fat. That’s another thing mall sales have in common with ukay shopping – you go in with a clear picture of what you want to buy, and you end up leaving with something completely different.

Did you swing by the Topshop sale last weekend too? What did you end up getting? Share, share! :D

  1. Totally but I didn’t spend anything over 1,200 because some of the shit they were selling over at Trinoma just didn’t suit well with me. I mean, I like clothes in general and if you gave those to me, I’d definitely wear them, but they weren’t clothes that I really, really, wanted. So I ended up with this grey lace onesie top/leotard and then this slouchy see-through lace stripe top. You know how, when you’re in a buy 1 take 1 store, you feel obligated to buy? That was what happened.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what happened to me! I didn’t get the stuff that I set out to buy, and while I’ll definitely wear the ones I did get, I’m not particularly thrilled about them. I don’t understand how to wear onesies. Do you wear them like regular tops? o_o

      • Well, onesies are kind of awkward, especially since my torso is short so it makes me look stumpy. But say, if you’re model skinny, it’ll look beautiful with jeans. I wear my onesies with my high waist skirts/shorts so the proportions won’t appear to skewed.

But yeah, you wear them like swimsuits so if you need to take a piss, well, you’ll just have to remove it entirely. But the one I got has buttons on the crotch area. SORRY TMI! 8D

I totally missed this! Too bad, because the leftover sizes would’ve probably fit me rather well, haha.

Didn’t even think about passing by the MOA branch. Gah.
