Today is my mom’s birthday! I love giving practical presents, so this year I got her a makeup palette from Dollface Cosmetics. I do her makeup quite often and it frustrates me that I don’t have enough neutrals and muted colors in my own makeup collection. Since I’d rather spend on colorful eyeshadow than neutrals, I got my mom her own eyeshadow palette, one with a healthy mix of neutral shadows and color.
I never paid attention to the 26-piece palette because the photo on the Dollface website made the colors look rather dull and boring. Then I came across another seller who used a better photo to display the palette, and instantly fell in love with the rose and plum hues. I bought the palette from Dollface anyway, because Pearl rocks.
The palette is housed in a classy matte case.
Inside are 22 eyeshadow colors in matte and satin finishes, plus five blush colors, four in matte and one with shimmer. I figured my mom would prefer this over an eyeshadow-only palette because she doesn’t own a single blush color. And I was right! She loved the colors and appreciated the fact that the palette included five different kinds of blush.
I wasted no time showing her how to do an everyday eye makeup look using two brown shadows and one matte blush. Mom’s worried about her sagging eyelids, so I taught her how to use a crease brush to darken the crease, which provides the illusion of firmer lids. Her makeup brushes aren’t that good though, and I didn’t think to include a decent brush set.
Even though I forgot to use a primer, the color payoff of the eyeshadow is still pretty good.
